Information about a conversation between the writer Svoboda Buchvarova and the family Zhelyu and Maria Zhelevi, Sofia, July 6, 1983.
Svoboda Buchvarova, a writer, relates that through her tours abroad, she clearly understiid that the Bulgarians are placed in isolation of the "global thinking process". She therefore feels like a person from the Middle Ages. Zhelyu Zhelev, a philosopher, author of the prohibited book "Fashizmat" [Fascism] (1982) characterized this time as anti-intellectual, unfree and depressing. The document, thus, reveals the sentments and self-perceptions of the critical intelligentsia, and how it was represented by the secret police.
